AlternativeTo just got a fresh new design, support for multiple filters & much more!

We're excited to announce that we've just introduced a fresh new design for AlternativeTo, as well as some other exciting tweaks, which we will detail below! 🔥

Our goal with this redesign is to make it even easier for you to find the best alternatives to your favorite software, apps, and services. And here are some of the key changes you'll notice:

  1. New header: We've updated our header to give it a clean, modern look that better reflects our brand identity. You may also notice that A2 gave a little shine to her tin suit! 😉
  2. Sticky search bar: We've made our search bar sticky so that it follows you down the page as you browse. This way, you can easily search for alternatives without having to scroll back up to the top of the page.
  3. Mild redesign of app pages: The “About” section now includes a small preview with the app's screenshots to the right of the logo and short description, allowing you to quickly view a wealth of information at a single glance.
  4. More noticeable filters: We know how important it is to be able to filter results based on your specific needs. That's why we've given our filters a prominent and sticky spot on all alternatives' pages. Now, you can quickly narrow down your search by platform, application type, features, license, and more.
  5. Multiple filters for searches: Speaking of filters, you'll be glad to know that one of the most requested features is now available. You can now select multiple filters from the alternatives tab of any app page, making it possible to choose multiple platforms, app types, or features to further customize your results.
  6. News page revamp: Many of you may have noticed that this year we've begun covering key news about your favorite apps 💙 Alongside this, we've redesigned the news page based on feedback to highlight information and improve readability. Now, the main app, related news, and external links are conveniently placed to the right of the news for easy access.

We hope these changes will enhance your experience on AlternativeTo and help you find the perfect alternative for whatever you're looking for. As always, we'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions – feel free to drop us a line in the comments below, on Discord, or on our social media! 😊

I enjoy the new design overall, however I believe that the prior app info and alternative buttons (example: https://i.imgur.com/Q3Div67.png) were considerably superior to the current updated implementation. They had a tab-like appearance and were large enough to be immediately noticed, as opposed to presently, where the button is smaller and more easily overlooked (examples: https://i.imgur.com/jxh1v9c.png https://i.imgur.com/zG6d65A.png). Really, I simply feel that these buttons are less intuitive than the ones we had previously. Aside from that, I think the new design is fantastic, especially the new search bar on the homepage.

Yeah, this was a major change since we have had tabs for this for ages. We do plan to make more changes regarding this in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

My 2nd comment on this post but i really love how i can select multiple filters now. Usually when I'm looking for an app i want it to work on both Linux and Windows so i can switch in-between. Before the update i was only able to select one platform and had to skip the apps which are single platform only. Loving this so much.
