Spotify rumored to launch $19.99 'Superpremium' plan with lossless audio and AI playlists
Spotify appears to be readying for the rollout of its rumored Superpremium service, following the initial announcement of its high-end subscription offering, Spotify HiFi, in February 2021. The launch of this service was likely delayed due to Apple's unveiling of 'HiFi' listening for its Apple Music subscribers at no extra charge.
A Reddit report suggests that Spotify is now set to introduce a more expensive subscription plan, referred to internally as “Nemo”. Priced at $19.99 per month, this plan is expected to offer 24-bit lossless music, AI-powered playlist creation, 20–30 hours of audiobook listening per month, and advanced library filtering options by mood, activity, and genre. The plan also includes advanced mixing tools.
The Superpremium plan will also provide listening statistics akin to Last.fm and a Soundcheck feature. This unique tool will provide insights into subscribers' listening habits, helping them identify the mix of sounds that is 'uniquely you'.
