Replit launches 'AI for All' initiative, democratizing AI-Powered software development
Replit is launching a significant project called "Replit AI for All", aiming to make AI-driven software development accessible to a wider audience. Starting October 9, Replit will incorporate GhostWriter into its platform, making it accessible to all users (although the company is retiring the "Ghostwriter" name and replacing it with 'Replit AI' for its AI features, intending for the Replit brand to become synonymous with AI). The company has also unveiled an open-source generative AI large language model (LLM) named replit-code-v1.5-3b, trained on 1 trillion tokens to improve code completion, presenting it as a viable alternative to existing LLMs.
Replit AI, with features like code completion and code assistance, is now available to over 23 million developers. The free plan provides access to basic AI features, while Pro users can use more advanced AI models and features.
Replit's strategy is to integrate AI into all programming interactions as a default feature, distinguishing it from other AI-powered coding tools like GitHub Copilot. Replit's AI capabilities are based on open-source technology, including their new LLM, which stands out due to its focus on data quality and training on high-performance Nvidia H100-80G GPUs.
