Meta's Threads social media platform to introduce Trending Topics feature, leak suggests

Meta's new social media platform, Threads, appears to be introducing a Trending Topics feature, similar to the one found on X. This feature is designed to assist users in discovering posts related to the most talked-about subjects on the platform.

Despite no official confirmation from Meta regarding the inclusion of a Trending Topics section on Threads, evidence of its existence was inadvertently revealed by a Meta employee. A screenshot displaying the feature was posted and subsequently deleted, but not before being noticed by Threads user, Willian Max.

The leaked screenshot indicates a straightforward user interface for the Trending Topics feature. It presents a list of the most discussed subjects on Threads, accompanied by the number of posts associated with each topic. This format is reminiscent of the trending sections found on social networks such as X and Mastodon. Users will find the Trending Topics feature within the Search tab of Threads (if/when it's released).
