Bluesky launches version 1.52 focusing on enhanced security and experience

Microblogging platform Bluesky has launched version 1.52, with a focus on enhancing security and safety features. The update enables users to alter and verify their email addresses, thereby improving account security and authentication. Additionally, a new feature warns users about potentially misleading links shared in posts.

Users can change their email addresses via the app's Settings, making it easier for those who have lost email access or made mistakes during registration. Any further account modifications after verification require a confirmation code from the verified email address. The update also simplifies panning and zooming on the Android image viewer and allows for alt text selection when viewing images online.

Bluesky's enhancements aim to compete with larger networks like X or Threads, with additional improvements such as prioritizing followed individuals in user suggestions and enabling account switching on mobile devices. Bluesky, currently invite-only, has already gathered 1 million registered users and intends to generate revenue through custom domains. A public launch date has not been disclosed yet.
