Google Drive now allows for selecting multiple text selections and copy/paste in its file browser

Google has announced that its Drive online office productivity suite now has multiple long awaited quality of life additions, including multiple text selections and file browser copy/paste support.

Since the service's launch, Google Drive has not supported selecting more than one interrupted string of text. However, as of May 25th, 2022, the popular online toolset now supports that and more. Selecting and highlighting multiple text strings enables users to format and edit document contents at a pace comparable to locally downloadable productivity suits such as Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Selecting multiple text strings separately alongside copy/paste support in Google Drive's file browser is now available on the rapid release and scheduled release pipelines, with a gradual pace "for visibility" across the next 15 days. Google account holders can try out these new features by visiting drive.google.com.
