Satisfactory has sold 507,374 copies since launching on the Epic Games Store
An indie title's success has shown that the relatively barren early library of the newly formed Epic Games Store has provided a golden opportunity for promising games that may have otherwise fallen under the radar.
Despite the fact that the game is still in early access, Satisfactory launched on the Epic Games Store, and within 6 months of release, has reached 507,374 copies sold according to a video posted by Coffee Stain, the development team behind the game.
Coffee Stain, which is also responsible for games such as Goat Simulator, initially partnered with Epic Games to make Satisfactory a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store in order to help bolster the store's library with quality titles. This approach to library curation is markedly different from other computer game storefronts such as Steam and GOG.com.
It'll be interesting to see how the Epic Games Store develops in comparison to more open-ended stores like Steam.
