Microsoft is now participating in Movies Anywhere, giving away X-Men movie
Movies Anywhere, the US-only cloud-based legal digital movie locker service, now supports movies from the Microsoft Store.
After announcing the news a day early accidentally, Microsoft officially announced its participation in the Movies Anywhere service on August 7th, 2018. This means that movies previously purchased and synced through the Movies Anywhere app from supported digital storefronts will now be playable on Microsoft's Movies & TV app for Windows 10 and Xbox.
Movies Anywhere is a commercial service that serves as a sort of locker for legally acquired digital movies from participating stores. Microsoft Store support comes as an addition to Prime Video, Fandango, Google Play Movies & TV, iTunes, and VUDU. Movies purchased from one of any of these participating digital stores will also be added to a user's Movies Anywhere library, which will allow the user to play back the content from any of the participating libraries for no additional charge.
The Movies Anywhere service supports movies from 20th Century Fox, Disney, Sony Pictures, Universal, and Warner Bros. By linking a Microsoft account to the service, users will get X-Men: Days of Future Past for free.
