Gmail web redesign coming soon, includes offline viewing and more

In an email sent out to G Suite administrators, Google announced that it will be rolling out an early adopter program for a redesign of the web version of Gmail.

The main new features of this Small Gmail iconGmail overhaul include consolidating access to Small G Suite iconG Suite apps to within Gmail itself, smart reply functionality (which is already available on the mobile app), the ability to delay emails from being flagged as new at the top of users' inboxes (a feature that Google is referring to as email "snooze"), and support for utilizing the web based version of Gmail offline.

As the offline functionality for Gmail on the web will be introduced to the redesign in June, the Small Gmail Offline iconGmail Offline app for Small Google Chrome iconGoogle Chrome will be rendered redundant and obsolete. As such, Google plans to discontinue the app once this feature goes live for all users.

In a message to Engadget, Google stated the following:
"We're working on some major updates to Gmail (they're still in draft phase). We need a bit more time to compose ourselves, so can't share anything yet—archive this for now, and we'll let you know when it's time to hit send."
