New bug in iOS 11 disabling access to Messages and other apps, crashes

Users that receive a message containing a character from the Telugu language using the built-in Messages application on iOS will face crashes from the operating system's built in app manager, Springboard.

Since Messages crashes when attempting to load the character, the only way to regain access to the application would be to "have another friend send you a message and try to delete the thread that contained the bad character," according to this article by our friends at The Verge.

The bug in Apple's operating system for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch occurs even on the latest version, 11.2.5. However, the issue is not present in Apple's public beta release of iOS 11.3, suggesting that the next software update the company releases will resolve it.

Other iOS applications affected by the bug include Gmail, Messenger, Microsoft Outlook, and WhatsApp.

Messaging applications that are seemingly unaffected by the crash on Apple's mobile operating system include Skype and Telegram. For other software alternatives on iOS to test and ensure are functioning in the face of this bug, you're in the right place!
