YouTube rolling out miniature picture-in-picture player

Google is rolling out a new feature to the built-in video player for its video sharing network YouTube.

Select users of Chrome OS and Safari on macOS are discovering that they have a brand new "miniplayer" icon in the lower right corner of the video site's player. This icon allows for videos to be played back while browsing the site in a "picture-in-picture" format.

The miniplayer function is available to users that sign in a private browsing window on compatible web browsers. As of this post, only Chrome OS and Safari on macOS are compatible, but this is sure to change imminently.
