Unfortunately The add-on will not receive any more updates and will stop working by next November with Firefox 57, when XUL-based add-ons will be deprecated in favor of the WebExtensions API.
New Tab Override was developed from the ground up as so-called WebExtension. This makes New Tab Override compatible with Firefox 57 and later. Not all options of the previous version are currently available as WebExtension.
