You can create a session to test your audio without connecting with a partner. You can make sure your microphone and headphones are working, and can see an estimate of part of the latency that comes from getting audio from your microphone to your computer and out to your headphones.
The main page lets you adjust how loudly you hear yourself, how loudly you hear your remote partner(s), and the balance between getting the lowest latency and getting the clearest audio.
To prioritize clarity of audio, rather than lowness of latency, drag the latency slider toward the right. This setting is useful for conversations.

To prioritize getting low latency, and allowing some crackling, drag the latency slider toward the left. This setting is useful for making music together online in rhythmic sync. To make latency as stable as possible, turn off automatic latency adjustment (click the blue "Auto" button, which turns black when "Auto" latency mode is turned off).
