Decentralized and open. Against the proprietary trending of non-interoperable walled bubbles (jails), any protocol that allows for true/real social communication is a good choice.
Reviewed The Old ReaderSimple and proper performance, free account up to 100 subscriptions, clean GUI, nothing spectacular but it works.

Libre Software with a really simple and effective concept. It works flawlessly with apps in all platforms. And you can run it in your own server.
Reviewed SayboardSeems to be working pretty fine, even in old devices, with different languages, all GPLed (copyleft free software), without sending user's information to external actors (should work offline too), it's in active development and there doesn't seem to be lots of alternatives, so, it's pretty welcomed. 👍

Not just an amazing, lightweight, anonymous, free-software front-end for the YT library, but also for SoundCloud, media.ccc.de, FramaTube and Bandcamp! Extremely recommendable.
Reviewed ShareDropA really good, simple, efficient, practical/useful idea. As long as it preserves users privacy and security, and doesn't close source-code, seems really fine.
