What is ZenTransfer?
ZenTransfer is a camera-to-cloud FTP relay service built for photojournalists and professional photographers who need to deliver images the moment they are shot. It acts as an intelligent middleman between a camera's built-in FTP client and any number of cloud destinations — so photographers can transmit directly from the camera over a phone hotspot, with no laptop or card reader in the chain.
Files can be delivered simultaneously to multiple destinations, including Google Drive, Adobe Lightroom, Dropbox, OneDrive, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Storage. Email delivery and webhook/API integrations are also supported, and a Zapier connector unlocks connections to over 5,000 additional services. Metadata can be applied automatically in transit.
ZenTransfer runs on a globally distributed FTP edge network spanning nine regions across six continents. All connections use the single hostname ftp.zentransfer.io, with automatic routing to the nearest healthy node — important for reliable uploads over mobile connections in the field.
A free, open-source desktop app for macOS and Windows is available alongside the service. It supports two modes: automatic syncing of all incoming files to one or more computers (so editors or ingest machines receive shots in real time), and manual upload for post-cull workflows or cameras without native FTP support. The desktop app works independently of the cloud service for local transfers.
