What is Microsoft Viva Engage?
Microsoft Viva Engage, formerly Yammer, is an enterprise social networking service part of the Microsoft 365 suite. It is designed for internal communication within organizations and can also connect multiple organizations. Access is based on a user's Internet domain, meaning only individuals with approved email addresses can join their networks.
Viva Engage helps create workplace relationships by fostering social communities based on interests, job types, departments, and more. Users can engage in discussions, create posts, mention coworkers, pin conversations, and facilitate team dialogue. The platform keeps employees informed and engaged with different announcements, hosts virtual events, and bridges the gap between leaders and employees.
Viva Engage encourages idea sharing, problem-solving, and learning. Users can generate posts, connect with experts, find answers to questions, upvote replies, mark the best answers, participate in polls, praise colleagues, and vote on answers. It also provides detailed engagement analytics for every community, event, and conversation.

Comments and Reviews
The description is not talking about the feature to create external "networks", where you can invite external none corporate email so you can engage collaboration, partners, sub-contractors, or customers. We do that. Except the ergonomic is not perfect, because some button/menu not well expected position (like external networks on lower left, below the list of groups...) The "unpaid" version is not limited in size, but you can't use the advanced management tools. The paid version do not ask for money your external users, are total free.
Yammer integrate the capabilities to create 'external' groups, so you can invite people outside your organization, inside... Not sure a good idea, hope able to deactivate this option !
Yammer is a private social network, while Teambox is an app to manage projects, at least is what they argue. I have used both for years in my company and I cant see any similarity
For sure, Yammer is not design to manage projects, all the same can be usefull for, but extensions (paid) add project management features.
