Free and open source nice. Most important thing is aim of this program. if you have a cheap controller, probably not supported from all games so this app emulate xbox 360 controller and your cheap controller works on games.
outdated, won't use all buttons and will lag during action games.
X360CE is great, but version 3 (the normal version) has limitations. Input lag, unsupported games, denuvo protected etc. New x360ce 4.x Alpha - Beta works around these issues. Check it out!

A lot of newer games support the Xbox 360 controllers directly through XInput, but prior to that, games were primarily using Direct input. This allows you to play those games with just a great an experience as those games supporting XInput. This is an essential tool in your gaming arsenal.

Pretty essential... makes controllers that work on the technically much-superior DirectInput protocol work with games that only support the measly XInput interface. Does exactly this flawlessly, and has loads of configuration options to set up every little detail the way you want, and make it work with most every game. But usually, it's just plug and play.
