WinSW Alternatives

WinSW is described as 'executable binary, which can be used to wrap and manage a custom process as a Windows service'. There are nine alternatives to WinSW for Windows. The best alternative is NSSM - The Non-Sucking Service Manager, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like WinSW are FireDaemon (Paid), Always Up (Paid), Launcher Service (Free, Open Source) and Shawl (Free, Open Source).

    1. nssm is a service helper which doesn't suck. srvany and other service helper programs suck because they don't handle failure of the application running as a service. If you use such a program you may see a service listed as started when in fact the application has died.
