When Windows notifications stop working — no pop-ups, no sound, an empty Action Center, the unread count climbing while no banner ever appears — Microsoft's official escalation is to reset Windows or create a new user profile. WNF fixes the actual cause instead. The bug is a desync between the notification database and the on-screen renderer. WNF stops the notification services, releases the locked database by terminating its host process (the step that makes manual attempts fail), rebuilds the store, and recycles the renderer process group so pop-ups bind again. The whole sequence takes under a minute, and it can re-run itself on a schedule so the fix keeps holding over time. Runs as a tray app with near-zero resources.
