Whisper Notes turns recordings, meetings and audio or video files into text on iPhone, iPad and Mac, fully offline. Speech recognition runs on the device, and the developer does not collect or upload any user data.
On Mac it records meetings with system audio and shows a live transcript, labels up to 10 speakers, batch-transcribes files and exports SRT, VTT, TXT or Markdown. You can pick the engine: Parakeet (built in), Whisper Large V3 Turbo and Small, SenseVoice Small, Qwen3-ASR 1.7B (beta, macOS 15+) or Apple Speech (macOS 26+). Whisper covers 101 languages and Parakeet 25. Custom vocabulary, replacement rules and translation are included.
On iPhone you can start recording from the Lock Screen widget, control it from the Live Activity, import audio and video from other apps, and use Shortcuts. On iOS 26 devices that support Apple Intelligence, a note can be summarized on the device.
Pricing: $7.99 once on the App Store, one purchase for iPhone, iPad and the Mac App Store version. The Mac app from the developer's website is a separate $14 one-time license and is free for 5,000 words a week; it adds voice typing in any app (hold Fn), an on-device AI assistant and a local command-line tool. No subscription, no account, no per-minute fees. Mac requires Apple silicon. Used by 70,000+ people.
