What is WeatherTotals?
WeatherTotals is an almanac of US weather that has already happened. It answers the question you ask after a storm rather than before one: how much snow fell here, how big the hail got last night, and whether the northern lights reached your state.
Four sets of pages cover all 50 states and DC. Snow, rain and hail carry live totals during an event and then keep the record afterwards, with season to date, the 1991-2020 normals, all-time highs and a day-by-day history for 145 cities. Aurora pages give the planetary Kp reading, the threshold each state needs and a three-day outlook. Yesterday's official highs, lows and rainfall come from the National Weather Service daily climate reports. All of it rests on public domain observations from the NWS, NOAA NCEI and NOAA SWPC, each figure stamped with its source and the time it was read.
There is a free JSON API over the same numbers, seven endpoints and no key, and free email updates for the states and weather types you pick.
