What is WeatherChirp?

WeatherChirp shows the typical weather anywhere on Earth — not a forecast, but what 30 years of climate data say a place is actually like, month by month and day by day.

Where the data comes from:

Every chart is computed from the ERA5 climate reanalysis produced by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) at ECMWF — a globally consistent, hour-by-hour reconstruction of the world's weather. We reduce 30 years of hourly data (the 1991–2020 climate normal) at each city's location to daily climatology: average highs and lows, the percentile range most days fall in, rainfall, cloud cover, humidity comfort, wind and sunshine. Sunrise, sunset and daylight are computed astronomically for each city's exact coordinates.

Contains modified Copernicus Climate Change Service information. Neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use of this information. City names, locations and populations are from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0).
