Waveform synth

Waveform is a free, open-source wavetable synthesizer that runs entirely in the web browser, built on the Web Audio API. There is nothing to install and no account to create: open the page and play with the on-screen piano, your computer keyboard or a MIDI controller.

Sound engine

• Two wavetable oscillators with frame position, octave shift, up to 8 unison voices with detune, random phase and gain
• Up to 12 voices of polyphony, with portamento and legato
• AHDSR envelope (attack, hold, decay, sustain, release)
• Filter with 8 types (lowpass, highpass, bandpass, low/high shelf, peaking, notch, allpass) and a chart of its real frequency response
• Master section with up to +12 dB of drive into a transparent true-peak limiter, so sounds get louder without clipping, plus a volume meter and a spectrum analyser

Effects

• Effects rack with drag-and-drop ordering, dry/wet mix and bypass for each effect
• Delay with normal and ping-pong modes, stereo panning and a filtered feedback loop
• Algorithmic reverb (16-line feedback delay network) with predelay, room size, decay, damping, modulation and early reflections, plus an Era switch that colors the sound like 70s and 80s hardware units
• Built-in presets for both effects, from slapback and tape echo to plates, halls and ambient washes

Wavetables

• A library of wavetables, browsable as a folder tree
• Wavetable editor: draw your own waves by hand or build a wavetable from an audio file

Presets

• Save a sound and share it as a link
• Browse and search community presets; the Popular list ranks them by how long people actually play them
• Edit your own presets later, still without an account

Waveform works on desktop and mobile.
