Vrok

vrok is a free, open-source command-line tool that turns a file, a folder or a local development server into a temporary public HTTPS link with one command.

Nothing is uploaded or stored on a third-party server. Visitors read the file directly from your computer while vrok runs, and the link stops working when you stop it, when it expires or when it reaches its download limit.

Share a file: vrok ./video.mp4 Share a folder: vrok ./reports Share a local web app: vrok localhost:3000

Key features:

• No account, no sign-up, no config file
• No file size limit, resumable downloads
• Expiring links (--ttl 2h), one-time links (--downloads 1) and password protection
• Video, image, PDF and code previews in the browser; the recipient needs nothing installed
• Download a whole folder as a zip, built on the fly
• SHA-256 checksum shown so the recipient can verify the file
• Localhost sharing with WebSockets, so hot reload works for the visitor
• QR code for phones, plus a LAN-only mode (--local)
• Change expiry, password or download limit while sharing, without changing the URL
• Single binary for macOS, Linux, Windows and FreeBSD

By default it uses a free Cloudflare quick tunnel (no Cloudflare account needed), and you can run your own relay instead.
