What is Voice Over Translation?

Voice Over Translation (VOT) is an open-source browser extension and userscript that allows you to use the popular voice-over video translation feature from Yandex Browser in almost any other web browser.

It uses AI to generate realistic voice-over translations for videos and seamlessly integrates them into your native web player.

Key Features:

  • Translates videos into English, Russian, and Kazakh from various supported languages.
  • Automatic video translation and subtitle activation upon opening a video.
  • Smart subtitle positioning that adapts text length and size to the player size.
  • Displays AI-generated subtitles or native website subtitles (e.g., YouTube auto-translated).
  • Export subtitles in .srt, .vtt, and .json formats.
  • Download the translated audio track as an .mp3 file.
  • Separate volume controls for the original audio and the translated voice-over.
  • Adaptive volume feature that automatically lowers the original audio when the translation is speaking.
  • Synchronizes the translation volume with the main video volume.
  • Keyboard shortcuts for translation and subtitle management.
  • Highly customizable subtitle appearance.

The tool works via userscript managers like Tampermonkey and Violentmonkey, but also offers native browser extension builds for Chrome and Firefox. It is supported on desktop browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Opera, Safari, etc.) and mobile browsers that support extensions (like Kiwi Browser or Firefox for Android).
