Vocards

Vocards is a vocabulary flashcard app built around one idea: the words worth learning are the ones you actually meet. It turns the vocabulary you run into while reading, browsing or watching into study material, and removes the manual data entry that stops most people from keeping a vocabulary habit going.

CAPTURE FROM ANYWHERE Instead of typing cards, you capture a word wherever you encounter it:

• Photograph a page. Point your camera at a textbook vocabulary list or a book page and Vocards extracts the words into a deck, up to 50 cards from a single photo.
• Share sheet on mobile. Select text in any app on iOS or Android and share it to Vocards to add a card instantly.
• Browser extension for Chrome and Edge. Select a word while reading online, right-click, and it is added to a deck.
• Import your reading highlights. Bulk-import the words you highlighted in Kindle and Google Play Books, which was the original reason the app was built.
• Or type or paste a word list, or describe a topic and let AI generate a starter deck for you.

CARDS BUILT FOR YOU Every card comes back complete: a translation, an example sentence that shows the word in real use, the part of speech and gender where it matters, and text-to-speech audio on both the word and the example. You can edit anything the AI produced, or write cards entirely by hand. None of the AI is compulsory.

LEARN WITH SPACED REPETITION Review happens in short daily sessions powered by spaced repetition, so each word comes back right before you would forget it. Review is swipe based - swipe right if you know it, left if you do not, with no self-grading rating buttons - and multiple-choice and fill-the-gap exercises mix in automatically. There are no daily review limits: you can study as much as you want, and re-practice a deck on demand even when nothing is due, without corrupting your schedule.

There is also a hands-free audio mode on mobile that plays your cards to you like a podcast - prompt, a pause to recall, then the answer and an example - so you can review while walking, driving or with your hands busy, no screen needed.

WORKS OFFLINE, SYNCS EVERYWHERE Study sessions run fully offline on mobile, powered by a real on-device spaced-repetition engine rather than just cached cards, so you can learn on a plane or the metro; your progress syncs back when you reconnect. Everything stays in sync across the web app, iOS and Android. Vocards supports 30 languages and lets you share a deck with students or friends via a link.

PRICING Free to use. A monthly allowance of AI credits covers the generation features; everything else is unmetered. There is no paid tier at the moment.
