I'll then give only one star because they point out that this software respects privacy... but we have no proof.
Utopia is indeed the need of the hour. A decentralized p2p ecosystem which is not governed and mining doesn't require high computation power rather works on PoM (Proof of Memory). Crypton (Crypto currency of Utopia) which is listed on exchanges is the integral cryptocurrency of Utopia enabling all transactions to take place with in the client and being a privacy coin enables true privacy.
Built in channels / mail / websites (existing websites can be forwarded on ecosystem through just a few clicks) makes it worthy of use
Upcoming 3rd party code audit will put 'closed source' issue to rest.
Holding onto a functional coin ($CRP) is certainly a wise thing to do !!!
A very good application, designed to to do it's job at the best. New features are still loading and it's working very fine.

Utopia Ecosystem is a fascinating concept. Its the need for the hour. But as a privacy advocate I cannot recommend it.
Its not open source, so we don't know what the code is doing. How secure it is, and is our data really safe in it?
Using Utopia Ecosystem is to take your private data from people who you know are spying on you like Ge, F**k etc. and giving it to people who you don't know and just take their word for it.
And we don't know if Utopia is spying on us or not. They say its encrypted, but how can we be sure? Zoom also said earlier that their calls are encrypted, but they were not.
They have a polished and well executed product. They have professionally produced help and YouTube videos. This cannot happen without a good amount of funding. Who is funding these unknown people? For all we know it could be the Chinese or Russian government. (sarcasm)
That said, I hope they are a talented group of well intentioned people. But if they really care about a private internet and YOUR privacy, they need to make the source code public and let you make the choices.
There is no excuse for making the internet closed source in the name of protecting the knowledge of 1984 group and keeping thing "unified" as they say. So to the 1984 group their know-how is more important to them than your privacy. Also, what if they group is taken over? What if something happens to them and no new updates come out? Are we ok with giving the key to the private internet to a handful of unknowns running a closed source product?
Also, I have learned they are paying people to write positive reviews. If you write something positive about them online and upload the screenshot on their portal, they will give you money!
I will give it a 5 star once the project is open sourced. Till they stay away from it.

Utopia P2P just went through a major software update to add P2P poker with real money using CRP, too. Check it out: Utopia P2P Updates to 1.0.6318
Their native coin Crypton (CRP) has also been listed by 2 exchanges now without any fees taken from the development team for listing and CRP is now listed on CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko.

I can’t wait to see what they release next! I know they’re working on mobile software and giving Tor websites very serious competition.
How can we trust the software if it is not open source?
at the moment, there are a huge number of ways to check the actions of applications without getting into the source code. Ask professionals for advice.
Personal opinion: it is high time to make the sources of crypto projects closed. Tired of forks. We are tired of viruses that are created almost instantly in the presence of open source codes.

By doing your own research and querying what they gaining by not open sourcing ? the amount they invested in giving out to bounty hunters they could have gotten more in what ever their aims where... and while a 3rd party audit being in the works for those who don't like to do much research will be satisfied soon

WhatsApp, used by over 1 billion users worldwide, is not open source!
So ask yourself: would you rather use an app purchased for over $20 billion by Facebook looking to monetize its users, while under the control of the U.S. Government, or a P2P app built from scratch since 2013 by a team that is self-funded and philosophically motivated to protect users from surveillance and censorship? They are also going to pay out of their own pockets to get their software audited by a reputable 3rd party and the mobile software is in development. Which of these two parties would you support?

It can be trusted becuase it is partially open-source. Maybe can try running it in a sandboxed environment. If you're not yet satisifed, hire ethical hackers try bounty hunting it.

No way to trust. So neither trust it nor use it.

Unfortunately, design is not state-of-the-art and the absence of sending video messages makes me not enjoying my experience with Utopia
