UrBudget is a desktop envelope budget (zero-based budgeting) for Windows and macOS. It keeps your budget on your own computer instead of on someone else's server.
Budget the money you have. Give every dollar a category, from rent to the car insurance that's due in March. Spending comes out of its category, overspending is covered by moving money from another one, and whatever is left rolls into next month. Targets work out what to set aside for bills that don't come every month, and credit-card spending moves money into the card's payment category.
A register you can type into, with transfers, splits, scheduled transactions, flags you can name, filters and bulk editing. Twelve reports, from spending by category to net worth and a forecast, each exportable to CSV, plus a loan planner.
Coming from YNAB? Paste a YNAB token and your accounts, transactions, categories, targets, notes and scheduled transactions come over, with every month checked against YNAB's own totals. YNAB's export file works too.
Your data stays yours. It works offline, needs no account and never asks for your bank login. Import CSV, OFX, QFX or QIF files from any bank, in any currency, and review every row first. In the US and Canada, optional bank sync through SimpleFIN Bridge brings new transactions in when you press Sync. Optional sync between computers ($2 a month) is end-to-end encrypted.
An optional assistant knows your budget: drop in a receipt or a PDF statement, ask how the month is going, or have it cover overspending. Every change waits for you to apply it. It runs on your ChatGPT plan or your own OpenAI or Anthropic key.
Free for 30 days, then $9 once, on all your own computers, with future updates.
