Universal Novel Scraper (UNS) is a free, open-source desktop application for downloading web novels from popular reading sites and converting them into clean, properly formatted EPUB files you can read anywhere. It uses an embedded Chromium browser to load pages exactly like a real user would, which means it works on sites that block traditional scrapers — including sites protected by Cloudflare. No browser extensions, no command line knowledge, and no technical setup required. What it does: Download novels chapter by chapter from supported sites, with automatic progress saving so you can pause and resume at any time. The app tracks every download in a built-in history panel and handles next-chapter navigation automatically — just give it a starting URL and let it run. Built-in Library and Reader: Every EPUB you download or import goes into your personal library with cover art, author info, and reading progress tracked automatically. Open any book in the built-in reader with dark and light themes, fullscreen mode, and chapter navigation. The reader includes Kokoro AI neural text-to-speech — a local, offline voice engine that reads your books aloud in a natural-sounding human voice. Choose from 11 voices (American and British, male and female), double-click any paragraph to start reading from that exact point, and control playback with pause, resume, and stop. No internet connection, no API key, and no subscription required — the voice model runs entirely on your machine. Provider System: The app supports a community plugin system where providers can be installed or updated with one click to add support for new sites. Providers are small JavaScript files that tell the app how to extract content from a specific website.
