I recommend this software, it's not as advanced at Directory Opus but it's not far behind and a lot more modular than most of it's "competitors" so you can adapt how advanced you need it to be to make it just right for you. I higly recommend it!
I've pretty much tried all of the alternatives to the native file explorer but this is the one that suited me best. I mostly use it as a secondary explorer, for simple everyday tasks I usually use the native explorer.

Delightful UX and very easy to migrate from Total Commander. I was really surprised - it's free. I remember it 10 years ago - it was nowhere near TC. Well, things change.
Powerful. A lot of customization options.
The best of free file managers, Total Commander changeover, works without complaints. I use it on my work already few years. It is free for commercial use.
Great orthodox file manager with lots of options. It's a pitty that it hasn't been updated for over two years. But it is still very useful.
Super file manager, with Universal Viewer included and more options than t commander. Maybe new themes will be nice, but, overall, the best alternative. Vio
