What is Type3arabi?

Type3arabi («اكتب عربي») is a free, open-source Arabic input method for Windows 10 and 11 that converts Arabizi — also known as Franco-Arabic, Arabish or Romanized Arabic — into Arabic script as you type. In practice, the app is a keyboard for typing Arabic using English letters ("mar7aba" becomes مرحبا), so it's built for people who work in English on Windows and need to write Arabic now and then.

Write naturally using Latin letters and numbers, such as mar7aba, 3ala or 2albi, and Type3arabi suggests the Arabic words you most likely meant. The best match is selected automatically, while a small candidate list lets you choose another interpretation when needed.

Type3arabi installs as Arabic · Type3arabi in Windows and can be switched to with Win+Space, like a normal keyboard language. Because it works as a Windows input method, you can use it system-wide in applications such as Word, Chrome, Edge, WhatsApp, Teams, Outlook and Notepad rather than typing into a separate website and copying the result.

It understands common Arabizi conventions across major Arabic dialects without requiring you to select a dialect first, supports Arabic diacritics, learns from your choices, and automatically leaves appropriate text such as web addresses and passwords in Latin characters.

Everything runs locally on your PC. Type3arabi works completely offline and does not record or send what you type externally or locally. It only learns your choices so it adapts to how you write, but this can be toggled off in the settings completely, or exported and imported to a new PC/windows installation.

It serves a similar purpose to Yamli's Smart Arabic Keyboard and Google's Arabic transliteration tools, while providing the system-wide Windows integration previously offered by Microsoft Maren.
