Transfer App is a Snowflake Native App that gives business users a governed way to load files into Snowflake. Excel and CSV spreadsheets are the most common, and any other file type is supported too. Finance, operations and analyst teams upload through a simple browser interface, without broad INSERT privileges on production tables and without waiting on IT or engineering for routine loads.
Data engineers and Snowflake administrators define each transfer up front: the target table, the accepted file types and extensions, the load behavior and the Snowflake roles allowed to use it. Business users then pick an approved transfer, choose a file and upload. Files are checked on the way in, valid data lands in staging and target tables, and bad files fail fast with clear feedback so tables stay clean.
Every upload leaves a reviewable record of who uploaded which file, when, and with what result. Users and admins can review upload history, download the original files, and report on activity through shared views in Snowflake. This replaces the shared-drive and email routine with a repeatable, auditable process.
Because Transfer App installs from Snowflake Marketplace and runs inside the customer's own Snowflake account, uploaded data stays in that account and does not pass through a third party. Access is controlled with native Snowflake authentication and role-based access control. An optional programmatic API lets scripts and ETL jobs upload files through the same governed transfers.
