Terravaria is a learning app for anyone who wants to know which animals live around them. Take a photo of an animal in your garden, on a hike or at the zoo, and Terravaria tells you which species it is. It recognizes every animal species, from garden birds to alpine ibex. When it is not sure, it says so and gives you a tip instead of guessing. Plants and fungi are not identified.
Every find comes with a species profile and a "Did you know?" box with facts about how the animal lives. The animal then joins your personal collection, sorted by habitat. If nobody has added a species before you, it becomes a worldwide first find.
On top of the learning part there is a light game: build a team of three from the animals you found, play turn based duels against computer opponents and climb the weekly league. Friends can challenge each other to quiz, picture guessing and memory duels. Professor Terra, a friendly cartoon researcher, guides you along the way.
Your photos and find locations are private by default. The original recognition photo is deleted after 30 days at the latest, and locations are only stored roughly.
Free to download and play, with optional in-app purchases (coins and packs) and an optional Explorer's Diary subscription that keeps every find with its photo. Available in English, German, French and Spanish. Made in Switzerland.
