What is Technitium DNS Server?
Technitium DNS Server is an open source tool that can be used for self hosting a local DNS server for privacy & security or, used for testing by developers on their computer.
It supports Ad Blocking using multiple block lists and new DNS protocols DNS-over-TLS & DNS-over-HTTPS.
It can run on Windows, Linux & MacOS and can be installed on Raspberry Pi too as a network wide DNS Server.
Comments and Reviews
I tested this with https://canyoublockit.com/ and the Yahoo! page, and it performed quite poorly.
I set it up with the exact same filter lists as Zen ad-blocker, another client-wide ad blocker, which performed better.
I was hoping this could be a good combo DNS/adblocker, but unfortunately not. And it doesn't support anonymized relays through DNSCrypt.
A good alternative if for more technical oriented persons
