What is Taleward?

Taleward is for tabletop role-playing groups who would rather play than take notes. It records the session at the table or online, works out who said what, and writes a chapter of what happened. The game master reads it first, corrects it with a short note, and then shares it with the group.

Each character keeps their own notes in the campaign bible, so what one player found out stays with that player, and the game master's secrets stay sealed until they come up at the table.

Taleward is open source (AGPL-3.0) and can run entirely on your own hardware, including a single Windows PC with a graphics card, a Linux server or a Raspberry Pi with a separate worker. Everyone at the table agrees to the recording themselves, audio is deleted once the chapter is approved, and cloud processing is off unless the game master allows it for a campaign. Free for players.

No chapter is perfect. Measured on public recordings, usually up to three spots per chapter need a correction by the game master. The method and results are published on the website.
