I used Total Commander on Windows for years, and after switching to macOS it felt impossible to find a proper file manager. Synapse is the closest thing to perfect so far. And the best part — the developer actually listens and quickly implements user-requested features. Brilliant work.

Synapse file manager information
What is Synapse file manager?
Synapse Commander revives the classic two-panel file manager for macOS. Each panel can point to a local volume or to the virtual “Network” workspace, where saved profiles let you mount FTP/FTPS, SFTP, WebDAV, SMB, or AFP targets without extra drivers. Once connected, you browse, preview (F3), edit with automatic re upload (F4), and perform recursive copy/move/delete operations with proper conflict handling. Productivity features include customizable columns and themes, incremental search, favorites overlay, batch rename masks with live previews, duplicate finder, per-panel sync comparisons, ZIP compression, and a rich keyboard shortcut set (Tab to switch panels, Space to mark, F5/F6 for copy/move, etc.). Everything is wrapped in a Mac-native UI with dialogs for automation and clear progress tracking, making Synapse a powerful replacement for Finder when you manage large local or remote projects.
