The author is strong advocate for free and opensource, don't know why he kept it paid. He made TodoTxtMac, which is both free and opensource. + He knows plaintext-producvity very well. I still use TodoTxtMac and it is awesome but based on its issues on github, I don't think it is actively maintained.
