What is SQLLY?

SQLly is a fast, native SQL workbench for people who write SQL every day. It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux.

It's written in Rust on Zed's GPU-accelerated GPUI toolkit, so it's a real desktop app rather than a webview wrapper. It stays quick even with huge result sets.

  • One tool for your databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, SQLite, DuckDB and ClickHouse.
  • An editor that knows your schema: IntelliSense with join suggestions, hover info, formatting and query plans.
  • Results that scale: rows stream in as the query runs and spill to disk, so a giant query won't choke your machine. You can pivot, chart and export straight from the grid.
  • Guardrails where they matter: it warns before risky statements, such as UPDATE or DELETE without WHERE, and can require your OS identity check before touching production. Everyday reads stay out of your way.
  • Your data stays yours: connections, history and snippets live in plain files, and there's no telemetry. An optional end-to-end encrypted relay lets you reach databases remotely without the relay being able to read the traffic.

In short, it has the power of SSMS or DataGrip, with a native feel, sensible safety rails and a focus on staying fast.
