Spool Mobile is a standalone live loop station for Android phones — record, layer, and perform, all from your phone.
Full description (copy-paste):
Spool Mobile is a standalone audio loop station for Android phones, built for performing live, not just practicing. Record a phrase — guitar, voice, keys, anything — and Spool repeats it seamlessly while you layer up to 8 loops on top. Every loop join uses equal-power crossfades with latency compensation, and a 32-bit float mix bus with a safety limiter keeps stacked overdubs in time and free of clipping. It runs on a dedicated native audio engine built for low-latency performance on Android.
The sounds are real recordings: 152 drum samples across 10 kits, and 25 keys sounds including grand piano, vintage upright, brass, flute, bells, bass, and synths. Loops show as circular waves with a live marker that travels round the loop while it sounds, so you can always see where you are in the cycle.
Performance tools include 21 widgets — scene launcher, stutter pad, tape age, loop slicer, chord bank, idea capture, tuner, key detector, macro XY pad, fade-to-black, and conductor flash — plus a full mixer with automation, 3 insert FX per track, vocal FX, and MIDI Learn for any USB or Bluetooth controller or keyboard. Sessions save and load on the device, and you can export WAV.
Spool is free to start: the Starter tier gives you 1 loop track with the core FX, no account needed. One payment of $9 (KVR Audio Special, regular price $19) unlocks Premium forever — all 8 tracks and every feature, no subscription. A license key is emailed after checkout and works offline after one online activation.
Requirements: Android 6.0 or newer, about 100 MB plus room for loops, and mic permission for recording. Download from spoollooper.com. An expanded version for tablet is on its way. Spool is nominated in the KVR Readers' Choice Awards 2026 for Most Innovative and Favorite Software for Performance.
