Split The Drive

Split the Drive finds a place to meet that divides the driving fairly between everyone, measured in real driving time rather than a point drawn halfway across a map.

The geometric midpoint looks fair but rarely is. Roads aren't straight and they don't all move at the same speed, so a highway on one side and winding back-roads on the other can mean one person drives 40 minutes to the "midpoint" while the other drives 90. Splitting the distance quietly hands the longer trip to whoever has the slower roads. Split the Drive optimizes the thing people actually care about — time behind the wheel — so on lopsided routes the meeting point sits noticeably closer to whoever would otherwise have driven longer.

Enter where each person is starting and pick what "fair" should mean:

• Fairest — makes the longest single drive as short as possible, so nobody gets stuck with a much worse trip than everyone else. • Equal drives — makes everyone's drive as close to the same length as possible, minimizing the gap between the shortest and longest trip.

Individual travellers can be weighted (someone driving with kids, or on a tighter schedule) so the fair point leans their way, and an optional "stay in one country" constraint keeps the result on the right side of a border.

Once the point is found, the app surfaces real venues near it — parks, coffee, food, and cinemas — each showing every person's drive time to that specific venue, so a coffee suggestion still tells you who ends up driving how long.

Results can be shared as a link that reproduces every pin and the meeting point exactly, and browsable pre-computed pages cover the halfway point between hundreds of major city pairs.
