What is Spendhog?

Spendhog is a household budget app built in Switzerland. It does not connect to your bank: you, or a CSV import from your bank, record what happened, so every entry is one you have seen.

In return it explains the month instead of just listing it: what changed against your own normal month, what was a one-off, and whether you can still afford what you are saving for.

Main features:

  • A financial health score out of 100, built from parts you can open one by one to see how each is calculated.
  • Forecasts that say how confident they are, and refuse to project when there is not enough history.
  • Budgets that understand bills that are not monthly, so a quarterly bill is not flagged as overspending.
  • Goals linked to the real balance of an account.
  • A scenario planner to try a decision (a raise, a mortgage, a car) on a copy of your numbers.
  • Accounts, expenses and transfers in CHF, EUR and USD, with exchange costs recorded.
  • A shared household: spending can be attributed to everyone at home, and up to three people can sign in, with viewer or editor roles.
  • An optional assistant, off by default, that never sees individual transactions.

It is a web app that installs from the browser on desktop and phone, available in English, German, French, Italian and Portuguese. Pricing is one plan with everything included, after a 30-day free trial with no card required.
