Simple and straightforward, Second Copy is still keeping my data backed up and safe in May 2025.
I use 4 flash drives as backups, and typically copy C: to Flash A often, from Flash A to Flash B every few hours, then from Flash B to Flash C and D daily.

What is Second Copy?
Second Copy is a simple and elegant backup program with a friendly interface, fully automated operations, an option to preserve multiple versions your files, and enough options to keep tech-savvy users happy. If you search the Internet, youll find that a lot of other people like it, too, and earlier versions of Second Copy have been reliably backing up files for more than ten years. If youre new to Second Copy, you may be bothered, as I was initially, by a few puzzling quirks, but once I got used to them, I liked almost everything I tried in Second Copy.

SC is lightweight and very fast. The recent update has fixed some smaller issues and is extremely quick when creating zip archives.

I've used SecondCopy for around 25 years. It's familiar. It's reliable. It's also stagnant.
I purchased several copies of SecondCopy 7 over ten years ago for my clients and decided it might be time to upgrade to the latest 64-bit version compiled for Windows 10. Do you know what has changed in ten years? Practically nothing. It looks and feels just the same. No progress in ten years? No new features, support for protocols other than FTP or addition of cloud services? Really?
I checked the website to see what the FAQ said. The latest entries were ten years old! "Known Issues" hadn't been updated, and still referenced SecondCopy 2000 and 7. I checked the options and didn't even see the addition of things that I've always had to edit in the config file by hand (NTFS time difference margin and changing log format from rtf to txt.)
No upgrade discount. No new features. No hint of any work done in ten years other than bug fixes. I think it's time to invest my time into another alternative.
I agree ... it has been a great program for a very long time, but as Windows 10 develops i’m getting quirky errors - usually linked to OneDrive. I’m here to look for a replacement
It is a almost perfect paid software in its class but I have a couple of thing to additionally tell about it. Firstly it is bad that last time program updated quite long time ago. Secondly I hav eone serious complaint here, Second Copy can't archive empty directories... Yes, it is true.
