What is ScreenTranslate?
ScreenTranslate is a free, open-source macOS menu bar app that instantly translates text on your screen.
Two ways to translate: • Screen Capture — Press Cmd+Shift+T, drag to select any area. OCR recognizes and translates the text automatically. • Text Selection — Select text in any app, press Cmd+Option+Z. Translates directly without OCR.
Key Features: • Fully on-device — no servers, no tracking, no data collection • 20 languages with auto-detect (Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, and more) • Works offline after downloading language packs • Optional cloud engines — bring your own DeepL, Google Cloud, or Azure API key • Translation history with search • Auto-copy translation to clipboard • Lightweight menu bar app with customizable shortcuts • Auto-updates via Sparkle
Powered by Apple Vision (OCR) and Apple Translation. Licensed under GPL-3.0.
