    ScreenRuler is described as 'lets you measure objects on your Ubuntu desktop using six different metrics'. There are more than 25 alternatives to ScreenRuler for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone. The best alternative is Meazure, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like ScreenRuler are Bluegrams Screen Ruler (Free, Open Source), Pixus (Free, Open Source), PixelStick (Paid) and On-Screen Ruler (Free).
