What is RiseupVPN?
Riseup offers Personal VPN service for censorship circumvention, location anonymization and traffic encryption. To make this possible, it sends all your internet traffic through an encrypted connection to riseup.net, where it then goes out onto the public internet. Unlike most other VPN providers, Riseup does not log your IP address.
Riseup has a VPN client called RiseupVPN. This VPN client is super easy to use! You just install it and run it—no configuration, no account registration.
This is an experiment to see if we can create a VPN service that is easy enough for everyone to use and that people will donate enough to sustain.
At Riseup, we believe it is important for everyone to use some technology like VPN or Tor to encrypt their internet traffic. Why? Because the internet is being broken by governments, internet service providers (ISPs), and corporations. RiseupVPN will fight that.

Another Free VPN, founded by donations like the one from the Calyx foundation. RiseUp has already proven their transparency and their dedication to protecting people privacy. Don’t expect a fully featured VPN service for free however.
RiseupVPN is run by political activists. As I have warned elsewhere, you do not want to use a service maintained by left-wing or right-wing activists because they have a pattern of collecting information and disseminating it. In fact, RiseupVPN has already shared user information with the FBI. They use the exact same interface for Android as Calyx, but Calyx comes from a much more reliable/trustworthy source.
Nuance. The FBI stole their servers from them by forcing the server-hoster to let them get it.
Hi Sam! May I suggest you to not connect to the internet for even better security?
Good suggestion Chou. May I suggest you put your laptop in a pot of water to increase your productivity?
I'm getting an installation error related to OpenVPN. I installed OpenVPN separately, but that didn't help.
Works great for what I use it for.
Not a service. Just a very thoughtful kind little tool to guard yourself with a VPN real quick for like, research and browsing purposes
Not intended nor made for just downloading bulk online like torrenting music illegally over and over. Don't toy with it like that. Thank you, that's all I wanted to say because I don't see people mention this part and it genuinely worries me so that they don't mention it.
Free and no login required. No logs, and pretty good speeds for a free VPN. No Tor Connections, or really any kind of GUI to select what country or place you can mask as. But again it's free so don't expect much for right now (whenever this review was made). Just use it as a quick on & off switch to mask your IP.
Good speed and reliability in my experience. I like that it is free to use and think the goals of the project are very admirable - please be sure to donate if you use it and have the means to do so!
