If you love classic Mac OS, then you'll love this modern take on the Control Strip. It works a lot like the old version of DragStrip with ways to keep track of folders, files, links to webpages, taking simple notes, and even launching applications. It could use some additional tweaks, but if you like a clean desktop and would prefer to hide your Dock, this is a utility to give a spin.

retroStrip information
What is retroStrip?
A launcher? Lightweight organizer? You decide. Files belong in their folders. Bookmarks belong in their menus. Until it’s time to get to work, and before you know it, you have 20 windows open.
Part art project, part love-letter to computers long retired, retroStrip provides a new way to access your stuff. Only it looks like an old way. Or any way you want.
Keep your things where they belong, but also a mouse-click away.
Organize by project, category, file type… however you like. A tile menu can:
Launch your favorite apps Open folders or documents Open web links Open custom links (shortcuts, for example), as well as links to servers, email addresses, and phone numbers Display a scratchpad for to-dos and reminders Not feeling fancy? Use as a simple launcher: only add one item per tile, and it becomes a button instead of a menu.
