What is renCal?

renCal is a free, open-source desktop calendar that runs on Linux and macOS.

Every event is a plaintext .ics file on your own machine, so you can always read it, script it, or hand it to an AI agent like Claude Code.

It syncs with Google Calendar, iCloud, Outlook and any CalDAV server.

It also has some other great features:

  • Natural-language input (e.g. "lunch with Sarah tomorrow at 1")
  • Keyboard-first: Vim-style navigation, a command palette and a shortcut for everything
  • Themes (Tokyo Night, Catppuccin, Gruvbox and more) or your own CSS
  • Plugin system: install more themes and calendar providers from the open-source community
