What is Referata?
Referata offers hosting of semantic wikis, based on MediaWiki, allowing you to add, structure and store data so it can be managed, shared, browsed and analyzed in as many ways as you choose. Free: unlimited Wiki pages and 100MB file storage. 5 Languages: English, Deutsch, Español, Português do Brasil, Russian. It can also be used to host ordinary wikis. It runs a slightly modified version of the MediaWiki software, with several extensions installed.
Combined with the collaborative abilities of a wiki, a site hosted on Referata can serve as a true user-powered database, with a minimal amount of setup work or technical knowledge. Referata wikis can be public or private, open or closed. Public wikis can be set up and run at no charge.
A semantic wiki on Referata can be used by both individuals and organizations, for many different purposes.

Comments and Reviews
In April 2023 I like like Miraheze and EditThis as best alternatives to Referata.com, because both Miraheze and EditThis are very good migration targets for my numerous wiki-sites based on MediaWiki on referata.com. Unfortunately referata.com has been deactivated 2022, the Referata.com-wiki-platform is since 2022 inacccesible.
