What is Read the Tape?

Read the Tape deals five real historical S&P 500 charts every day. The ticker and the dates are hidden and prices are normalised, so there is nothing to recognise and nothing to look up. You call up or down over the next five trading days, and a confidence slider sizes a paper bet on each call, so a confident wrong call costs more than a cautious one.

Everyone gets the same five charts each day, which makes the scores comparable. After you call, the chart is revealed with the company and the dates, and your run is scored against the Monkey Index, a benchmark built from the same charts.

Free, no login, about three minutes a day. Works in any browser and installs as a PWA.
