A Chrome extension that adds a privacy layer for WhatsApp Web that blurs messages, message previews, media, profile pictures, and contact names to protect your screen from shoulder surfing
What you can blur (each toggle is independent):
- All messages in chat
- Last message previews (sidebar)
- Media (images, videos, stickers)
- Media gallery thumbnails
- Text input field
- Profile pictures
- Group and contact names
Standout feature: automatic blur on inactivity. Set a timer (15s, 30s, 45s, 1min, or 5min) and the screen blurs itself when there's no mouse or keyboard activity. Step away from your desk — your conversations are protected without you having to remember anything
Hover to unblur, or use the keyboard shortcut (Alt+X / Ctrl+X on Mac) to toggle on/off instantly
Built on an open-source MIT-licensed project. Only requires storage permission and access to web.whatsapp.com. No external server calls, no data collection, no tracking
Available in 10 languages including Portuguese, English, Spanish, German, Hindi, and Turkish
